What's different about your books
Zero-rated healthcare
Preventive and basic healthcare services, and listed medicines and medical equipment, can be zero-rated. They still go on your return.
Not all treatment is zero-rated
Cosmetic and elective services are generally standard-rated at 5%, unless medically necessary. One visit can include both.
Input VAT stays recoverable
Because zero-rated supplies are taxable, VAT on the costs of providing them is generally recoverable, unlike exempt supplies.
Insurers and patients
You bill insurers and patients separately, with different timings. Receivables need to show both.

Can I invoice an insurer and the patient for the same visit?
